Defendant, James Isaac Stevenson, was indicted for second degree murder, a violation of LSA-R.S. 14:30.1. The jury returned a responsive verdict of guilty of manslaughter. Defendant was sentenced to serve five years at hard labor, without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence. An additional sentence of two years at hard labor, to be served consecutively, without benefit of parole, probation...
