The appellants, Roy Crawford and Harold Sykes, were each convicted on three counts of distributing heroin in violation of 21 U.S.C. § 841(a)(1) (1976). In addition to the distribution charges, Harold Sykes was convicted on one count of possession of heroin in violation of 21 U.S.C. § 844 (1976).
