This is a suit for damages in tort arising from an automobile-pedestrian accident. The pedestrian, Cynthia Starks, brought this action against Guy Kelly (as owner of the vehicle), Mary Kelly (as driver of the vehicle) and Fireman's Fund Insurance Company (as insurer of the vehicle).1 After Starks rested her case, Guy Kelly requested and was granted a directed verdict.
