The present dispute arises from plaintiff Shannon M. Rainey's purchase of a used 1975 Chevrolet Monza from an automobile dealership which held itself out to the public as "Caruso Auto Sales". The terms of that July 1977 transaction called upon Rainey to make a cash down payment of $1,283.70 and to finance the remainder of the total purchase price through Credithrift of America, according to credit arrangements made by Caruso.
