This appeal arises out of a one-car accident which occurred on December 31, 1979, around 10:30 P.M. and involves a "defective shoulder" along a state highway. As a result of the accident Mr. Widnay Pitre was killed and his wife, Jessie Rose Pitre, was injured. Mrs. Pitre and her four children, Carroll Bruce Pitre, Joseph Karren Pitre, Charles Travis Pitre, and Brenda Pitre Rome, filed this action against the Louisiana Department of Transportation and...
