Defendant, Audrey Maye Bellows, was indicted by a grand jury for second degree murder, in violation of LSA-R.S. 14:30.1 following the shooting of Leon Bellows. A twelve member jury found defendant guilty of manslaughter, LSA-R.S. 14:31, a responsive verdict to second degree murder. She was sentenced to fourteen years at hard labor.
