Defendant Gary L. Vaughn was charged in separate bills of information with violations of La.R.S. 14:67 (theft) and La.R.S. 14:134 (malfeasance in office). Vaughn was found guilty by a six-person jury of the theft charge and found guilty at the same trial by the judge alone of the malfeasance charge. He received a five-year suspended sentence on the theft charge with the condition that he serve one year...
