RONEY, Circuit Judge:

Len Scott appeals from the dismissal of his petition for a writ of habeas corpus, claiming that his guilty pleas were invalid because he was deprived of the effective assistance of counsel. We reverse and remand.

The State of Florida charged Scott with three felonies involving worthless checks and a fourth involving the sale of unregistered securities. Scott retained Louis Vernell to defend him and gave Vernell the names of witnesses...
