Defendant, Rubin Wade, was indicted by the Grand Jury and charged with having committed aggravated rape (R.S. 14:42) and aggravated burglary (R.S. 14:60). After entering a plea of not guilty, defendant was tried by jury and found guilty of both crimes. For the aggravated rape conviction, defendant was given the mandatory sentence of life imprisonment at hard labor without benefit of probation, parole, or suspension of sentence.
