Joe Buddy Oliver was indicted by the grand jury for the first degree murder of Robert Earl Nix and Billy Joe Gordon on January 17, 1978, in violation of La.R.S. 14:30. After trial by jury, defendant was found guilty as charged. After a sentencing hearing, the jury was unable to unanimously agree on a recommendation; therefore, the court imposed a sentence of life imprisonment without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.
