Following a jury trial, defendant was convicted of attempt murder (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1977, ch. 38, pars. 8-4, 9-1), rape (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1977, ch. 38, par. 11-1), aggravated battery (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1977, ch. 38, par. 12-4) and burglary (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1977, ch. 38, par. 19-1). He was sentenced to concurrent terms of 6 to 18 years for the attempt murder of Agnes Silverstein, 100 to 300...
