The defendant was charged with armed robbery in violation of MCL 750.529; MSA 28.797 and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony in violation of MCL 750.227b; MSA 28.424(2). A jury convicted the defendant of the lesser-included offense of assault with intent to rob being armed, MCL 750.89; MSA 28.284, and found him not guilty of the felony-firearm charge.
