Shortly after midnight on January 12, 1979, two males entered the Continental Airlines office at the Los Angeles Airport. With no prior reservations, one of them, displaying a large amount of cash, purchased two one-way tickets to Buffalo, New York on a flight scheduled to depart in 10 minutes.
