Appellants Reza Sedigh and William Brooks were convicted under 18 U.S.C. § 371 for conspiring to possess unregistered firearms in violation of sections 5812(b) and 5861(b) of the Gun Control Act of 1968, 26 U.S.C. § 5801 et seq. (1980). The convictions resulted from an undercover investigation by agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF), who posed as gun dealers offering to sell to appellants a large...
