The central issue in this case is whether a service charge of 1½% per month imposed by the seller upon the unpaid balance of the business account of a purchaser was interest. The service charge was assessed in connection with the purchase of electrical supplies and equipment by Shane Grant, d/b/a U. S. Electric Company, from Flato Electric Supply Company.
