This appeal involves a workmen's compensation suit brought by a deputy sheriff employed by the Lafourche Parish sheriff's office.

The petition of Eddie Joseph Rodrigue, Jr., alleges that on August 30, 1978, while in the course and scope of his employment as a deputy sheriff, he sustained injuries which entitle him to workmen's compensation benefits as provided by law.
