Robert V. Long, Sr., was divorced from Mary Lou Ferguson (then Long) on April 9, 1973. Robert V. Long, Jr., is the eldest child of that marriage. In the divorce, an agreed property settlement became part of the judgment, providing for child support of $18 per week to be paid to Mrs. Ferguson for each child remaining under the age of majority. The agreement also provided:
