On September 21, 1978, the Union Parish Grand Jury indicted defendant Roger Daniel Bryan for the first degree murder of Robert Taylor. La.R.S. 14:30. After a lengthy trial the jury found him guilty as charged, then, in the sentencing phase of the bifurcated proceeding, La.C.Cr.P. Art. 905, recommended a sentence of life imprisonment without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence, which was binding on the trial court. He now appeals on the...
