Lucero, appeals his conviction for assault in the first degree on a peace officer, section 18-3-202(1)(e), C.R.S.1973 (1978 Repl.Vol. 8), and his punishment as a habitual offender, section 16-13-101(1), C.R.S.1973 (1978 Repl.Vol. 8, 1979 Supp.).1 The defendant represented himself at the trial and urges several grounds for reversal.
