The petitioners, Sam Robert Faulisi and Thomas Vogt, were indicted, and after a bench trial, convicted of two counts of armed robbery in a suburban home. Petitioners appealed their convictions to the Illinois Appellate Court. The issues on appeal were: whether the convictions were based on evidence which was the fruit of an unlawful arrest; and whether the defendants were properly convicted of both counts of armed...
