The appellant was convicted on May 3, 1972, for the shotgun slaying of Cassie Lee Davis. He was sentenced to death in that case. However, on appeal to this court that sentence was modified to life imprisonment due to the intervening decision of the United States Supreme Court in Furman v. Georgia, 408 U.S. 238...
