Plaintiff, a 55-year-old woman, was injured when she tripped and fell over a two-inch hole created by a difference in elevation between a South Central Bell Telephone Company manhole and the surface of the street. At the time of the accident, Mrs. Reinhard was crossing Dauphine Street in the middle of the block between two major department stores.
