Plaintiffs were involved in a vehicular accident on August 15, 1976 in the city of Lafayette. Mr. Dennis Ehrhardt and his wife, Shirley, and their two minor daughters, Cindy and Deanna, were riding in their family car when it was struck from the rear by an automobile owned by Robert Cummins and operated by his minor son, Shawn Cummins.
