The appellant was charged by indictment pursuant to Title 15, § 342(4)(j), Code of Alabama 1940, 1975 Supplement (now § 13-11-2(a)(10), Code of Alabama 1975), of the Alabama Death Penalty statute for the crime of "Murder in the first degree wherein two or more human beings are intentionally killed by the defendant by one or a series of acts." At arraignment the appellant entered pleas of "not guilty" and "not guilty by reason of insanity."...
