TATE, Justice.

The defendant Williams was convicted of armed robbery, La.R.S. 14:64, and sentenced to fifty years imprisonment at hard labor. The chief issue and only defense raised at the trial concerned whether the accused should be found "not guilty by reason of insanity" under his plea to such effect, La.C.Cr.P. art. 552(3).
