The appellant was indicted at the October, 1970, Term of the Jefferson County Grand Jury on four charges of robbery and one charge of rape. When the case was called for trial, on April 5, 1971, the appellant was present in court with his two court-appointed attorneys, the Honorable Milton Garrett and the Honorable Louis Scholl, who each announced, "Ready for Trial."
