The defendants were charged with committing the second degree murder of Betty Jean Joseph in violation of La. R.S. 14:30.1. After a joint trial by jury each defendant was found guilty as charged and sentenced to life imprisonment at hard labor without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence for twenty years.
