Defendant was indicted for the crimes of murder in the second degree (Penal Law, § 125.25, subd 1), and arson in the second degree (Penal Law, § 150.15). It is alleged that defendant intentionally caused the death of Peter John Rivera by stabbing him a number of times, and that he intentionally set fire to the deceased's mobile home.
