After a jury trial, James Earl Hunter was convicted of having robbed Elmer Beatty while armed with a knife, a violation of LSA-R.S. 14:64. Subsequently, the State charged defendant as a multiple offender; he was found to be a triple offender, given credit for time served, and sentenced to serve forty-nine and one-half years at hard labor, without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.
