The plaintiffs instituted the initial suit on December 10, 1973, charging the defendants with libel for an article published on page 3A of the Detroit Free Press' November 20, 1973, edition. The suit also charged that the Free Press repeated the libel in a December 1 editorial. The article, written by defendant Heldman, charged Balfour Peisner with inadequately representing an indigent criminal defendant...
