On March 31, 1971, plaintiff, an injured seaman, instituted this action against the defendant American Export-Isbrandtsen Line, Inc. under the Jones Act, 46 U.S.C. § 688. Defendant filed its answer on August 12, 1971. Thereafter, on April 27, 1972, the defendant joined the United States of America as a third-party defendant under Rule 14 (c) of the Fed.R.Civ.P. for failure to render adequate medical treatment...
