Adams, a West Carroll Parish cotton farmer, sued Stoneville Pedigreed Seed Company, a producer and processor of cottonseed domiciled in Mississippi, seeking damages for expenses and lost profits allegedly sustained by plaintiff by virtue of a poor 1968 cotton crop resulting from defective or inferior seed produced by defendant and purchased by plaintiff from a retail seed dealer.
