On May 23, 1974, at 11 a. m., two men robbed the Forest Avenue branch of the Canal National Bank in Portland, Maine. One of the men displayed a handgun and took the money at the teller's cage; the other carried a sawed-off shotgun and remained quietly near the entrance.
