The record shows that petitioner's husband began employment with the Board of Education of the City of New York as a custodian engineer on July 16, 1951. He remained in that position for a little over 20 years until his death on October 18, 1971. When petitioner applied for benefits based upon 20 years' service her application was rejected on the ground her husband had not contributed to the Retirement System for the six-month period...
