Sylvester Madison, his wife, and son brought this action under 42 U.S.C. §§ 1981 and 1982, and 42 U.S.C. § 3601 et seq. (Fair Housing Act of 1968), alleging that William H. Jeffers had unlawfully discriminated against them in refusing to sell land to them because they were black.
