The defendant-appellant, Raymond Helm, was jointly indicted with his half-brother, Kenneth Helm, for the crime of arson. The indictment charged that the defendants "* * * committed the crime of Arson, in violation of Chapter 38, Section 20-1(a), Ill. Rev. Stat. 1969, in that they knowingly, and by means of fire, damaged the real property...
