Nick Sotell, a sixty-five year old seaman with over forty years of sailing experience, was serving as Second Assistant Engineer aboard the t/s Ocean Ulla, owned and managed respectively by the defendants Ocean Transportation Co. and Maritime Overseas, Inc.
