DIXON, Justice.

On April 11, 1967, Clarence Williams was charged in a bill of information filed in Orleans Parish with the crime of possession of heroin. He posted bond and was released. Trial was held on March 10, 1969. Williams was found guilty as charged. On May 7, 1969, he was sentenced to serve seven and one-half years in the penitentiary.
