SCHWAB, Chief Judge.

ORS 140.610 provides, with regard to bail, that:

"If, without sufficient excuse, the defendant fails to appear * * * upon any * * * occasion when his presence in court is lawfully required * * * bail * * * is thereupon forfeited." (Emphasis supplied.)
