This is a criminal prosecution. The Grand Jury of Orleans Parish indicted Terry Eugene Ford for the murder of Richard Byrd. On the day of trial, the District Attorney reduced the charge to manslaughter under LSA-R.S. 14:31. After trial, the jury returned a verdict of guilty.
