On January 27, 1969, James David Stover was convicted on separate charges of second degree murder of Francis (Frank) Koerner, malicious wounding of David Ricken, and unlawful wounding of Paul Koerner. His punishment was fixed at confinement in the penitentiary for ten years, ten years and one year, respectively, or a total of 21 years.
