In this diversity action, the plaintiffs, heirs of one Jules Lapene, seek to remove a cloud on their alleged title to two hundred and thirty-three acres of oil-rich water bottoms, ownership of which is claimed by the State of Louisiana, and on which the Louisiana State Mineral Board has granted mineral leases to Chevron Oil Company.
