Manuel Chimeno filed an action against Fontainebleau Hotel Corporation (herein referred to as the hotel) and Otis Elevator Company, seeking damages for personal injuries alleged to have been proximately caused by negligence of the defendants. The latter denied negligence and pleaded contributory negligence. Trial of the cause before a jury resulted in a verdict in favor of the defendant Otis Elevator Company...
