On May 29, 1968 Janice Sarto, a senior at Broadmoor Senior High School, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, requested permission from one of her teachers, Mrs. David Lovely, to use her automobile in getting some hamburgers for lunch. Mrs. Lovely questioned Janice with respect to whether she possessed a driver's license. Miss Sarto replied that she did have a driver's license, although in truth and in fact she did not.
