Appellant was convicted of armed robbery, assault with a dangerous weapon, and carrying a pistol without a license. Several months before trial, after some disagreement with his retained counsel, appellant advised that counsel in writing that he no longer wanted him to represent him. Three months before trial appellant wrote a letter to the Chief Judge of the District Court stating that he was no longer represented by counsel and respectfully requesting...
