This is a suit by plaintiff for damages to a large piece of oilfield equipment caused by an accident on February 26, 1968, which occurred at the premises of Hub City Iron Works in Lafayette, Louisiana. Plaintiff was the designer and builder of the specialty oilfield equipment described as a "pipe break-out and lay-down machine", which was about 40 feet in length and weighed approximately 16,500 pounds.
