On the evening of August 17, 1965, a tractor-trailer unit owned by Plaintiff-Appellee Global Van Lines and driven by Plaintiff-Appellee Charles Parnell was heading north on U. S. Highway 11 when it collided with the east side of a bridge just outside Epps, Alabama, went through the railing, and fell about twenty-five feet.
