Luther James Covington owned a yellow 1965 Pontiac Bonneville in 1966 and after it was repossessed, in bad condition, by General Motors Acceptance Corporation he got another — maroon in color. How he acquired the second one — whether honestly or with knowledge it was stolen — was one of the issues below.
