This is an expropriation suit brought by the State of Louisiana, through the Department of Highways (hereinafter referred to as the State) pursuant to R.S. 48:441 et seq., against Mrs. Maxie Mae Welch Jenkins, the purpose of which is to acquire two strips of land from defendant, Mrs. Jenkins, bordering on the north and south sides of Louisiana Highway 6.
