This school desegregation suit was instituted by the United States by the filing of a complaint on June 16, 1967, pursuant to Sections 407(a) and (b) of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, 42 U.S.C. § 2000c-6(a) and (b), alleging the operation by the defendants of a system of dual schools based on race.
